HP Spectre x360 - 13-4103dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently, the bottom of my notebook, HP Spectre x360 - 13-4103dx (ENERGY STAR) running Windows 10, has developed a bulge, which causes the laptop to rock, as the rubber feet no longer contact the flat table top. That swelling has increased and now you can also notice the keyboard and the trackpad being affected…the latter being slightly lifted out of the case, to a point where you can almost see inside the machine and the pad is really no longer usable. The lid doesn’t close all the way and none of the four “feet” of the laptop are touching the desk.

I see other people have been posting similar issues and it seems this has to do with the battery? If yes, is this a safety concern? Should I be worried?

The laptop is barely three years old and has been running very smoothly until the swelling appeared. Obviously, the warranty has run out by now.

Well it is less of a safety concern than you might think. It is not going to explode if that is what you are asking but will be destructive to the laptop. Li-ion cells can swell over time and you have to get that battery out of there, bottom line. If you want to do it yourself I can link a manual and videos if you wish and I will also try to escalate your concerns to HP for whatever assistance can be provided.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
