Product: HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14-ea0023dx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Computer is about 2 years old, out of warranty and the usb power port quit charging.  The charger works because I can charge through the other USB C port.   

So frustrating that I pay all that money for a computer that is just a couple years old and it stops working like this.

A USB port can stop working when a device that draws too much current is plugged into it. That tends to burn the tiny traces on the system board.

 

Each USB port type has a limit to the amount of µA that it can draw. 

 

You may have inadvertently plugged in a device that was not and should have been self powered into the USB port.

The only thing that has ever been plugged into the power port is the power cord that came with the computer.   So I am pretty sure that is not it.

Does the port work as a USB type-C port or does it do nothing?

As nothing... tried my monitor in the port and it didn't work.  Don't know if it worked for that before.   

The other usb c port is working and I can charge through it, but I really need that port for something else.

This would be a hardware issue.

The issue could be the port or on the system  board.

 

Is your laptop still in warranty?
