Hi all,
My Laptop Screen started flickering after a recent OS update for Windows 11 Home Edition, version 22H2. When this started to happen, I tried updating to newer OS releases and have following observations:
1. I have an external monitor connected as extended display. When my laptop screen is flickering, the external monitor remains stable. Also as I move the cursor to external display, then my laptop screen becomes stable. So I thought my laptop screen got broken.
2. Once again, I updated the OS to a latest version and updated some optional drives as found in Windows Update center. It looks like resolved when started after a fresh update & my laptop screen working good... However, as soon as I Shut down and started my laptop, the issue returned. So, I understand laptop screen is good.
3. Moving forward, I have updated VGA driver from the MSFT website but issue still persists with below observations:
3.1. I RESTARTED few more times and noticed laptop screen is good
3.2. I turned laptop to SLEEP and turned back ON. Laptop screen is still good
3.3. When I SHUT DOWN and power up, it starts to flicker on Laptop Screen. However, I restarted from the black/ flickering screen somehow by alt+ctrl+del and it resolves
I have communicated MSFT support and understand I have to wait while my device manufacturer releases display driver (VGA) that will be compatible with the version of Windows I have i.e Windows 11 22H2. I have searched for compatible drivers but couldn't find them.
Question:
1. Does anyone also experienced such issue (Screen flickering after Shutdown but not when restarts) and how was that resolved ?
2. Is there any ETA to get VGA driver released for Windows 11 22H2 ?
Appreciate your suggestions. TIA

Hello Mahtabami.

I've only seen the business line get (recent) windows 11 22H2 drivers. You could try THAT driver which is for your gpu (among others) from the probook 450 g7 page Probook 450 G7 drivers
Link to driver: https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp139001-139500/sp139398.exe
Info: https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp139001-139500/sp139398.html
Obviously this is a mod so to speak, otherwise you should use the official generic Intel gpu drivers OR wait for Intel to upload new ones.... Intel® Official DHC graphics drivers for i5-1035G1 Processor
I have to say, however, that since the external monitor's picture has no issues, I doubt that the problem lies in your graphics adapter,,,,,

Update/correction
It appears that this really is a common problem in windows 11 How to fix screen flickering in Windows 11
There are also two other users in HP forums that posted problems with the screen flickering, one specifically after updating to 22H2:
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Screen-flickering/m-p/8512109#M51530
So indeed it appears to be some kind of confilct/incompatibility between drivers/bios and win11 (more specifically 22H2) on some systems. It's possible the latest BIOS (as successfully pointed out originally by ub6424 on other thread) might improve things (dated August 25, 2022):

Thanks TzortzisG for your comments.
I tried both ways but it still persists. I am curious to know why there is no flickering as I restart the Laptop but it returns when I power on after a Shut down. The driver is still the same !
At the moment, I power on and restart immediately to work on my laptop. Seems I have to wait until Intel® releases Official DHC graphics drivers for i5-1035G1 Processor to get rid of it.

Hello mahtabami.
There are NEW official Intel drivers for 1035g1 on the site, that is why I gave you the link:
Intel® Official DHC graphics drivers for i5-1035G1 Processor
31.0.101.3729 Date 10/20/2022
OS Reference/valid for the product(s) listed below:
Microsoft Windows 11*-64 (22H2)
Intel® Core™ i5-1035G1 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)
You should TRY it!
I don't know why your graphics have this weird behaviour, this is why they're called bugs and glitches.... I had to rollback a desktop to windows11 21h2 because the NVDIA graphics card was performing like it was 1999. Maybe you should too (rollback).
* If for some reason Fast Startup is enabled in your system, you should disable it. I think that Fast Startup is the reason for the discrepancy between shutdown and restart. If enabled, only with a restart can you get a clean boot to clear corrupted memory, files and drivers from the system.
How to take control of fast startup in windows 11.

Hi all,
Quick update, I took assistance from online tool Intel® Driver & Support and followed onscreen steps to install Graphics driver 31.0.101.2114 as recommended by default. It appears to be working fine at the moment.
I found the tool useful, will post here if the issue returns. Good luck!
