HP probook 440 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! I am planning to buy a HP Probook 440 G4 (i7,14inch). It comes with a 256 GB SSD and has no optical drive. I was wondering if I can still add another 256GB SSD in any way..... Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Yes there is a space inside for a 2.5 inch standard sized SATA disk which can be an SSD and then there is also a SATA type M.2 slot. Here is the Service manual:

Manual

Basically flip it over and there are 2 service doors. The 2.5 inch has its own door and the M.2 is under the main door with the memory and wireless cards. Not sure which type of SSD your laptop would have. If it comes with the M.2 type odds are the mounting hardware for a 2.5 inch will not be present. You can order it through the Parts Store however and that way install 2 disks in the laptop. If it has an M.2 SSD from the factory I might save a bit of money and just get a 7200 rpm regular hard drive to put in the 2.5 inch bay as you will already have fast OS function from the M.2 disk.

Hello! I've bought an Hp 440 G4, and i was willing to install an HDD, does HDD with 1 cm height fit or does it have to be a 7 mm HDD?

I was looking for and HDD with protection against bad sector, but the only ones i can find are ones with 1 cm, do you have any advice?

Thank you

Better go for HDD only model, or SSD+HDD, not SSD alone.

When you order with SSD only, you will have to order SATA cable and HDD mounting kit separately to be able to add HDD. It will cost around $50 (did not check for this particular model, this price was for different one) + HDD itself

When you order HDD only, you can add fast SSD without any cables or adapters required (only one screw to fix M.2).

I have bought SSD+HDD, it came with M.2 SATA TLC SSD from Sandisk (quite cheap one), and I was a bit disappointed.

PS. Please also consider upgrading RAM immediately, if it comes with 1x8GB and works in single channel. For optimal performance I added extra 4 GB stick that was left after my Envy x360 upgrade to 32GB.

PPS. This is valid for Probook 440 G5, but probably similar to G4
