Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

I got in contact with HP customer service and after passing me around to various different departments over the course of 2 weeks, they finally told me that they don't know what's wrong with the laptop and I have to pay full price for a repair.

A Google search turns up many, many complaints about the same issue with this model. This is absolutely appalling and there is obviously a defect in the design of the model which HP is unwilling to admit to. I'm not sure if I want to waste my time and money replacing the charging port myself when this has not fixed the issue for many people. HP's technical team quoted >£300 for a motherboard replacement, which is ridiculous for a product which cost £810 and which I have already spent £255 on for a previous issue. At this point I might as well throw the laptop away and buy a new one, obviously not from HP.

Replacing the port yourself for time invested + a  £12-15.00 part seems to me like a no-brainer.

If it works you win if it does not, you sure haven't lost much.

You did say that the charging stopped or started when the notebook was moved.

That is a prime indicator for an intermittent connection.

Whatever you decide to do, it is your choice, money and time.
