HP15 ba009dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 1 year out of warranty HP15 ba009dx notebook and I added a bank of ram by taking it apart. I watched several videos on taking this notebook apart ( only took back cover off ) so I dont break anything. Now after putting the back cover on  and tightening all the screws it makes a continuous buzzing sound. This didnt start until I took off the back cover and installed the new memory. Thanks to Hp I had to install more ram because 4 GB is not enough, because of microsoft bloated windows 10. Now it makes this buzzing sound.

I bought this new and its only two years old and out of warranty.I rarely used it because of problems with the wifi adapter, eventually had to buy a usb wifi adapter. It works fine other than this issue and the wifi works better with my usb wifi adapter. I am very disappointed and angry that I may have to buy a new fan and install it myself, I know I can do it, but this is only 2 years old, one year after the warranty expired ( I can understand if this was a 4-5 year old computer, my 6 year old gateway ne56r still has no fan problem and performs like new ).  Also these usb ports are very loose when I plug in a usb device, its so loose that it looses the connection and I have to wiggle the usb connectors. They are so loose that I have to insert a piece of thin cardboard to tighten the connection.

Maybe if HP had installed 8 gigs of ram I would not have had to open the bottom case and install the memory myself.4 GB is not enough on bloated windows 10.

@markgrzeskowiak Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that after installing the additional ram you are getting noise from the fan.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

The RAM is not a user-replaceable part.

Please let us know if you remove the new ram and check if you are getting noise from the fan.

Your computer Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations

● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)[UMA models only]

● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)

● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)

● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)

Please perform the memory test and check.

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to the Component test.

5) From the list, run the Memory (extensive) test.

Also, please update the BIOS.  Sometime noise issues will fix updating the BIOS.

Keep us posted,

Yes these are two independent pieces of hardware.

The RAM is not a user-replaceable part.

Yes it is a user replaceable part, all computers have memory upgrades as user replaceable. That is why there are two slots to add more ram.

Please perform the memory test and check.

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to the Component test.

5) From the list, run the Memory (extensive) test.

No memory issues here because the fan has nothing to do with memory,

Also, please update the BIOS.  Sometime noise issues will fix updating the BIOS.

Updated, but still a noisy fan and its coming from the fan, not the memory.

@markgrzeskowiak If you've been able to obtain the number and/or contact the phone support team, they should be able to help you resolve the issue, and I'm not sure why you've mentioned about India, Philippines, etc...do elaborate, if you've not been able to get the number, drop a private message as suggested previously and I'll help you, accordingly.

I want to talk to an american when it comes to technical support because India technical support may have that thick accent that I can barely understand like back in 2004 when I bought an HP before this one. So give me the US technical support number or extension so I can talk to an american. I dont want the philllipines either. The US HP technical support please. Thank you.
