You stated the issue was now resolved?
What did they do?
I have been trying to contact the, over the e-mail correspondence they put me in yet they are not veyr responsive.
I just want HP to repair my unit.
it is out of warranty yet this was clearly a design flaw that HP should repair.

I had this issue and paid HP to fix it. They did a good job and fixed issues unrelated for no extra charge that I wasn't even aware of. They also can offer a new warranty, for a fee, since they completely go through the machine.
My total cost was $178, which is half what anyone else would do it for and it's better to have the manufacturer do it, IMHO.

Hi, I too have the ubiquitous HP Envy 15 Hinge issue. My warranty period is over so I expect a solution will have some minor cost, which I am willing to accept. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind an instruction on how to fix the hinge.
FYI - the screw came loose on the underside of the laptop, upper left corner. A temporary fix was to tighten that screw which worked. That screw is still solidly in however now there is a slight separation of the base and the top of the laptop portion at that corner. There is no noise of plastic pieces in the computer that others allude to as of yet.
Direction on how to have this fixed would be appreciated. This computer cost me close to 2k.
Thanks.

type in "hinges" in the search field on the HP forum and you will see many other customers have started similar posts.
I fixed (temporarily) my daughter's laptop just last week with a lot of effort and careful application of epoxy in layers as well as reducing the tensions on the hinges by removing the hinges and turning the nut counter-clockwise by 1/2 turn. There are youtube videos on how to get all the bits apart. Not an easy task since a lot of the locking mechanisms are based on plastic clips.
This is basically a design flaw and a definite quality issue. HP need to be held accountable. I have sent a letter of complaint to HP Australia with ample photo evidence.
As per the Australian Customer Service Charter :
HP Australia (and worldwide) need to provide a proper resolution to this widespread quality issue....

Hi,
I have the same problem as well. both the left and right hinges are broken and the screen is hanging by the wires. Right now, the only way I can use my laptop is by leaning it towards a wall.
Please let me know what needs to be done to fix this?
