This is a close up of the AC input.

I was told that the metal top in this photo lifts up so I can replace the ac input cable but I don't

see how to do  it.  I don't want to force it and break something.

I was able to find the correct cable on ebay.

Any tips on how to do it.

I couldn't see the direct message is that the one with the red(1)?

This is the solution to the problem:

I showed the computer to 3 different repair shops.

They all wanted to check things that were not broken for prices between 50 and  $150

One shop "fixed it" for 25 by just removing the the ac input wire and replacing it with a new one that I already ordered.

The original problem was that the AC input plug was not going all the way in and so it could not charge.

I called that shop back and then finally -------  The truth.  They told me the problem was a bent pin in the plug.

Funny how nobody told me to check that before.  Nothing had to be done inside the computer.

I had a spare AC adapter that I got from HP previously for another problem  and all was solved.
