Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

How do I know maximum hard drive capacity I can put in my laptop?
It's an hp 14 bs-oxx with 32gb emmc and 4gb ram.
I'm trying to add a SATA hdd in it . I'm tempted with the 1tb Seagate. It's easier to find at a good price right now.
I don't know if my system will allow that high capacity storage.
How do I find out that info?

Hi:

In reference to our discussion at the link below, as long as you tested that Toshiba drive in the SATA port, and it worked, a 1 TB drive should work fine.

Solved: Can't see the hard drive. hp laptop. - HP Support Community - 8466729

If you look at chapter 1 page 3 of the service manual, HP offered 1 TB drives in the model series.

I still think you should install a SATA SSD instead of a slowpoke mechanical hard drive, but it's your PC.

Once again, your answer is right on point.
Yes, I did test the toshiba hard drive. It was recognized by the laptop, so the port is active.
Most SSDs that I've been seeing have different shape. Now that you mention SATA SSD, I'm realizing that it has the same shape as regular hdd and the ports match. So, yes, as long as it fits, if that will give better performance, I'll go with it.

Yes, a 2.5" SATA SSD will provide much better performance than a 2.5" mechanical hard drive.

I recommend the WD Blue SA 510 2.5" SSD which has the best performance at a reasonable price.

Awesome. That'll work. Thanks.
