I tried to install a 1TB SSD but it is not recognised at all. I tired both positions. I marked a third position which sadly isn't soldered on.

Is it possible to add a second drive and if so how?

Hi Gerald,

The part number for the cable is 857462-001

It is not available in HP parts store, so you can try an online search.

Here in Europe I use EET Europarts a lot, however their site is down today

Hope it helps,

Hi,

This is where it should go:

ab200HDD.PNG

Is the 2.5" SSD new? Once installed did you go into Disk management to initialize the drive?

What cable are you using? Original HP cable for that model?

Do you have a regular HDD lying around you can try, just to see if it starts spinning once you turn on the PC.

Let me know,

David

Thank you for your reply.

I checked the disk management and it doesn't show up. I connected the ssd to a different computer and initialized it to gpt. I might be able to remove a hdd from another computer.

I installed it in the correct postion. It still doesn't show up.

Can you send me a link to the proper adapter?

I tested it with a regular hdd (640GB) it still doesn't recognise it but it makes normal hdd noises. (It spinns)

Looking forward to your reply,

Gerald

Hello,
Thank you for the service manual and the link to the website. I once broke the usb board and I would like to replace it too.
According to the manual there are two usb boards:

Which of them is the correct one for my laptop?

Cheers,
Gerald
