I just ran a scan and discovered that I need a new hdd. I'm ordering one but am wondering about putting windows 10 on the blank hdd. The laptop had windows 8.1 originally but I upgraded to 10 when Microsoft had the upgrade to windows 10. Now I need to put windows on my hard disk. Can anyone walk me through the process?

Hi:
Here is how you can reinstall W10 for free...
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool. Make the 64 bit installation media.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, since your PC is not working.
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

Hi, Dave:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.

The hard drive R & R procedures can be found in Chapter 6.

It might be the driver.
Here is the latest one for the 7260...

You don't need to uninstall the current driver.
The new one should over write the old one.
But if you ever have to uninstall the driver...
Go to the device manager, right click on the 7260 AC adapter, select uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.
That is normally how you uninstall any device.
Also, with the Intel adapter, there may be the Intel Proset Wireless Software that you can install in the Windows Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program.
Do not confuse that with the Intel Bluetooth software, which is not wireless AC related.
If you need to update the Intel Bluetooth driver/software, then you must first uninstall the Intel Bluetooth software in the Windows Control panel
