Hello Mwalifaiz_1.  I understand your mouse has been disabled.

That little yellow LED is actually a button of sorts.  If you double tap this LED it should change colors and activate your touchpad.  Try this and let me know the result.

Have an excellent day!

This is the second time i experiece that problem.

What caused it?

I may have tapped twice too close to the left upper corner? Who knows? who cares? as long as we all know to to fix the problem and.....as long as we have a MOUSE close by to helps reach the solution.....

In my case , HP G4 - 1117 (Pavilion)the application Synaptic Pointing Device is the culprit also which is not working as it should.

So, the PAD DOES NOT WORK AND THE LIGHT IS ON !!! A light ON is a sign that something has been turned ON and not OFF

....in my humble opinion!

Worst....I plug in my USB MOUSE and ...I place the cursor on the Synaptic P D ICON (task bar, right low corner group  and ..i get the info " PAD DOES NOT WORK WHEN ANOTHER POINTING DEVICE IS PLUGGED IN"!!!

Wrong! My PAD was already OUT OF WORK BEFORE I PLUGGGED MY MOUSE IN !! DAH!!

So, once more I went to Properties of Mouse and chose DEVICE SETTINGS >and after highlighting under the line ( found only one in my laptop) that says "Enable, Name, Port" I think I click on "NO" or maybe on "ENABLE" and the no changed to YES and ......i SAW THE LIGHT GOING OFF!!! Aleluya!! Bravo !! Thank you Jesus, God, AllaH,etc... !!!

I did not even DARE to click on the button " APPLY" at the right low corner of that window and quickly unplugged my mouse and I saw my cursor BACK TO WORKING" !! AND.... STILL WORKS !!

So, today's lesson is to DARE to get to KNOW our pc because it is to costly to pay for something we can do.

Another day i will dare to mess again with the "apply"  button but....as long as the pad continues working with USB mouse or w/o USB mouse...I am OK

Back to square one....

Right after posting the previous comments... and browsing other links...i saw in my taskbar the MOUSE icon....

I clicked it to try to close it and .... the window of Mouse properties opened and.... was trying to tell me somehing... i ignored it!! and ... I just closed its window !!

Helpppp! the stupid orange light is BACK ON and the PAD STOPPED WORKING!! 🙂

I had to open the MOUSE Properties > DEVICE SETTINGS again and ...now I did play with the BUTTONS ENABLE and DISABLED ...

I did LEAVE it on ENABLE and .....yes...I did click the button "APPLY" and ..... I am back using whatever i want, PAD or MOUSE and ....THE ORANGE LIGHT WENT TO SLEEP.

Hello victor,

I see that you are having problems with the touch-pad on your HP computer. I would like to help with this issue but the model number you posted doesn't bring any information.

Can you post the product number? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

Here is a link for a envy touch-smart that discusses using a touch-pad.

My dv6 is product number QE068UA. The referenced user guide depicts a virtual "button" on the center of the touch pad top edge to control the light, but tapping in that area does nothing.  Double-tapping the top left corner does enable/disable the touchpad though.

Thankfully I found this thread and yes--the fn+spacebar does toggle the touchpad light.  I must have on occasion accidentally touched that combination, because the light would either go out or come on, leaving me mystified.

Anyway, are some sub-models of the dv6 equipped with a "soft" button for toggling the light?  I'm thinking that this must be the case, given the user manual's details.
