With normal use, the laptop case is coming apart at the hinges. It cannot be opened or closed without great difficulty and at risk to even greater damage. It is most definitely a manufacturer flaw and it must be left open so as not to further damage it by closing it. It is truly unacceptable for this to happen to a two-year-old laptop computer from such a reputable company, outside of the standard warranty, of course. Is there anyone who can help me?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I want to thank you for taking the time to speak to us today.
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

I seemed to have lost the connection with the support agent assigned to my issue. There was an offer made to repair the laptop but the conversation ended without response to a comment and question I had. Could someone from HP please connect with Mr. Jeff Christopher, an HP support agent, and check on the status of the suggested solution to my issue?
Thank you.

Update: I escalated the issue until I was assigned a case manager. They offered $150 and $250 off a new HP product, which I didn't accept. They offered to call back, and once confirming that it's the left hinge issue that commonly affects this model, they offered to fix it for free. I also emailed them several threads related to this issue, including one where someone discussed their free repair. IF you're having this same issue, keep escalating until you get it fixed for free.
