Service Manual

Compatible AMD processors listed at the bottom of page 1 onto page 2. Top processor is

AMD Phenom™ II N970 (2.2 GHz, 2 MB L2, 1333 MHz, 3.6 GT/s – Quad 35 W

You already have it disassembled down to the board so start at p. 75. The N970 will be a drop-in replacement for your processor. It is not soldated or even soldered; it's socketed. The P360 is a dual core at 2.3 ghz and the N970 is a Quad at 2.2 ghz. I think you are going to find the improvement is subtle unless you do a lot of multi-threaded applications.

Hi @cichacz,

Welcome to HP Forums!

I understand that you need to replace the motherboard of your HP Pavilion g6-1005sw Notebook. All the motherboard parts number are listed in this Service Guide. Page 71 for how to and part information.

You will need to check the OS, graphic card and chipset version of your laptop, then determine the board you need.

Memory is on page 51.

I hope this helps.

Please get back to me how this goes.

Not exactly. Need to replace only CPU of my 1005sw laptop, which is currently Athlon II P360, which others cpu will fit into this model?

Hi @cichacz,

This is soldered to the Motherboard and it is not a replaceable part on the Notebook.

Thanks.

Hey @cichacz,

That part is the AMD CPU Heatsink/Fan. This could be found by searching the part number located on the picture.

Thanks.
