Currently I cannot turn on my Wireless adapter, I've been using the same technique pressing (alt + f12) key combination. I checked the device manager and the wireless device is not displayed in the list. I tried reinstalling the wireless software but the problem persist. Any comment or solution with this situation?

You may have the action keys disabled in the BIOS. Try tapping the F12 key without the Fn key.
When looking in the Device Manager for the wireless adapter you should expand the network adapter section. That is where it should reside if it is recognized as present by the operating system
It always helps if you identify your notebook with its product key when asking questions that may involve hardware.

Thanks for your answer but the problem is still happening.
Let me give you more information about my notebook. It is HP Pavilion G4 with Windows 7 and 64 - bit Operating System.
Under 'Device Manager'/'Network Adapters' the following device is displayed:
Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
I executed the 'HP Connection Manager' but only the LAN adapter is displayed.
Within the keyboard the 'F12' key has on a red led.
I checked that the 'Action Keys Mode' is enabled in the BIOS, however the 'fn' key is not working to turn on/off the wireless adapter.
Please help me!! I using the LAN red but is not a good practice, I prefer my wireless connection.

PLease identofy your notebook with the complete product name. Identifying it as a G4 notebook is a bit like someone identifying their car as a chevrolet without stating that it is a Corvette. I have a loaner Envy 17-3002ea. It is also has n A2Q36EA#ABU prduct number. That is the complete desgnation.
You may have to open the bottom of your notebook to see the wireless module to get the number from the sticker. There is an access panel for the wireless. I can't link to the manual and images of how to do that as you have not identified your notebook completely yet.

I have a HP Pavilion g4-1117dx Notebook and when ever I turn on my wireless by hitting the button the unit will seem fine but after about 30 seconds the system will restart it over and over. I had already reinstalled at factory settings and still no change keeps rebooting. Anyone have suggestions?

@soulseekier,
I understand your system will reboot continuously after wifi has been enabled. You have already performed a recovery which should rule out any software issues as long as the issue still happens with a fresh install. The only component left is a hardware issue and that seems to be the wifi card. Have you tried taking the card out and reseating it to ensure it didn't become slightly loose?

1. Right click your power options at bottom right of desktop. You will see--> Adjust screen brightness, power options, WINDOWS MOBILITY CENTER. And turn system icons on off.
2. Open Windows mobility center
3. You will see 7 options. If the wireless network is grey and wont let u turn wireless on. Do this...
4. At the bottom of mobility center you will see INTEGRATED WIRELESS DEVICE.
5. Click [choose action] and click TURN ALL DEVICES ON
6. Now the wireless network option in mobility center should give you the ability to TURN WIRELESS ON
This should fix your problem, let me know if it doesn't. But.. If it did correct the problem proceed to final step
8. Smoke some good pot, and relax. Maby play some W.O.W.
I hope this helped.

Hello - I ran into this ancient thread because my laptop, which has performed excellently for years, suddently today will not allow me to turn on the wireless card (RED LIGHT ON - BUTTON DOES NOT CORRECT THE DISCONNECT).
Short of opening this thing up and reseating the wireless card, did any other solutions seem to work? It's pretty dead - I've rebooted twice and am now on the wire. Time to perform laptop surgery?
Thanks for your input.
