HP 250 G2 Notebook PC

My PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run windows 11 and it needs updating but  I've researched how to do it and my PC has a legacy BIOS Mode and to update it it needs a UEFI BIOS Mode. I don't know what to do ?

Hi:

Unless you are willing to buy a W11 license and product key, you can't upgrade to W11.

For one thing, you can only upgrade a PC from W10>W11.

You cannot upgrade the PC from W8>W11.

Next, Microsoft closed the loophole this past October that allowed folks to upgrade their PC's from W7/W8 to W10 beyond the July 2016 free upgrade end date.

Your notebook does not meet the W11 hardware requirements for more than the UEFI requirement.

The processor needs to be an Intel 8th generation core processor or newer and the PC needs to have a TPM 2.0 security device which the 250 G2 doesn't have.

There is a way to install W11 on your PC by using a method to bypass the W11 hardware checks, but as I wrote above, you'd have to pay for a W10/W11 license and that would not be worth it.

I have had a further look and have noticed that it is indeed a windows 10

OK, since you have W10 on there, here is how you can upgrade to W11:

Read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

The only difference for you since you have W10 installed in Legacy mode, would be to change the partition scheme in the Rufus menu from GPT to MBR.

If the in-place upgrade fails, then you will need to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

If it does fail, you can make a new bootable W11 installation flash drive with Rufus and set the partition scheme to GPT and then you can boot from the UEFI USB boot source and install W11 in EIFI mode and enable secure boot.
