Please I need help I am planning on buying a 256gb m2 NVME Pcie ssd (2260)  for my hp elitebook 840 g2. I want to be sure that I can boot  OS from the ssd, so that I will use the hdd on the laptop as a secondary storage.

Your notebook was developed before the NVMe type platform was developed.

 

I thought it was a pretty clear statement, but I will simplify it. for you.

 

If you install an NVMe type SSD it will not be recognized by the BIOS.

 

For that reason you would be wasting time and money if you installed other than 2.5-inch internal SSD • SATA 6.0Gb/s SSD with a 9.5mm adapter.

An nvme type SSD is not likely to be compatible with your notebook.

Thanks with the reply, i have read through the  link you provided. But there is something i saw below your reply it reads: (An nvme type SSD is not likely to be compatible with your notebook.) is referring to hp 840 elitebook 840 g2. Please help me i want to know
