Pavilion 11 x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I need a new battery for an old laptop and need to identify the right one. The HP parts finder cannot identify it, and when I plug my model number into Google or another search engine, I get multiple different types of batteries in the search results.

The Laptop is a Pavilion 11 x360, Product number F8C35AV, full model number 11t-n000 x360 CTO.  Can an HP rep help?

@Jiyu1 -- I need a HP rep.

They are difficult to find in this discussion forum.

Remove the battery from the computer, and read the product-name and product-number from the label on the battery.  Or, take a picture of that label, and post the picture here.

The problem is it doesn't have a battery in it, which is why I don't know what battery it uses.  I've been using it plugged in all the time, but the plug fits loosely in the laptop and sometimes pulls out with the slightest tug, so I lose whatever I was working on. Some of the batteries I find with web searches are clearly the wrong shape, others look like they MIGHT be the right one, but I can't tell for sure.

Probably, but I am not one.

I did check the HP warehouse: https://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=F8C35AV

but found nothing useful for your "F8C35AV".  Sigh.

If you search on eBay for the complete name of your computer, do any of the listings offer to sell the original battery, or something compatible? Check the images in the listing, to see if you can get a physical match.

On eBay, see: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/264448688115?

It claims to be compatible.

Hi @Jiyu1

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the replacement battery.

You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.

Alternatively, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options". Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from, here's how private messages work: Click here for details.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

For older batteries, HP will not have them. Not much point in asking. You have to get the HP Part number. In this case:

2-cell, 29-Wh, 3.82-Ah 751875-005

3-cell, 43-Wh, 3.82-Ah 778956-005

See p. 49 of the Service Manual here:

Manual

Amazon India does not have any which is unusual. If you search by HP Part number, eBay UK has a lot of them and I assume eBay anywhere in EU would as well:

New PS03XL Battery 787088-241 787520-005 DB6R HSTNN-DB6R-1 HP Pavilion X360 804042364539 | eBay

Post back if you need any more information and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

The problem is that neither the HP web site nor the parts suppliers it refers me to recognizes my laptop model number or serial number, nor the battery part number the manual says it uses. Yes, the laptop is long out of warrantee, but it otherwise works fine. SOMEONE must be able to supply a battery for it. I can still find parts for a 15 year old desktop, why not for this somewhat younger laptop?

I'm in the US, not the UK or EU. The battery you linked to does not fit the configuration for this laptop, unfortunately. I tried one just like that months ago and had to send it back. The battery space inside is smaller and rectangular.

Sorry I mixed you up with the admin who is from India, you are from USA.

This eBay USA seller has your battery:

As I told you, HP will not have this battery. HP authorized resellers will also likely not stock it any more. You have to go into the third party market to find batteries on laptops this old.

If the 3-cell is too big then you must have the 2-cell battery. Is this it?

All I could find.
