I bought a used hp 650 core i5 laptop only to find out that it was an upgraded laptop(I.e an old generation laptop whose processor was upgraded). So I want to know how to identify a genuine core i3, i5, i7 laptop. By genuine i mean it should have all functionality of new generation laptops, not just the processing speed of core series laptops.

The HP 650 goes back quite a few years. It is able to use up to an i3-2370M CPU. This is an i3 processor and perhaps an i5 from the same generation (2d) could be installed and used. But the current most recent generation of the Intel Core processors are 10th gen and most laptops for sale in stores and the internet as new are at least 8th generation Intel Core processors. Whenever I see laptops advertised, the processor is generally one of the things prominently mentioned. What is it you need to do with your laptop? We can certainly help you figure out the processors installed in any specific model you may be looking at.
Don't settle for just knowing it is an i3 or i5 or i7; you need to know the exact processor type installed so its capabilities can be compared.
