This is brilliant! Windows upgrade has disabled recovery functions in HP Recovery Manager software, so accessing these at the reboot point is a great workaround for me.
Already copying files and looking forward to resuscitation my Spectre x360 with Windows 1709.

Yes! Happy to hear it worked. Don't forget to download "StopUpdates10" to block it from reinstalling. One click to disable and when MS gets the fix ready it is one click to re-enable WU.

Nice. Maybe they are finally detecting Intel SSD before updating. I will re-enable it on mine and see what happens.

Unfortunately, when I re-enabled WU on my loaner Spectre x360 15 it started downloading April 2018 Update again. I waited to see if 'maybe' it downloads and then detects but next message I got was restart needed to install the update. Aargh. Does your laptop have a message stating that the update is blocked or exactly how are you determining it?

@CherylG
After, resetting my Spectre to factory settings are reinstalling Windows 10 v. 1703 (using the pre-boot HP Recovery facility), Windows reported several updates were available and attempted installing them - including the upgrade to v.1803.
At some point, and error message popped up saying there were issues with the upgrade to v. 1803 (while a few other updates installed successfully) , and offering a 'fix'. The error message is still there in Settings, by the way:
For obvious reasons, I didn't click on 'Fix issues' 🙂
I also remember a large white popup dialog box appearing on my screen during the OS updates, saying something along the lines of "Some of your hardware is not compatible with the latest Windows update" - or, similar. To me, this was Microsoft blocking v. 1803 update because Windows detected Intel series 600p SSD on my Spectre.
CONCLUSION: my best guess is that Windows on your Spectre is going to make a similar attempt (or, attemptes) to upgrade to v. 1803, but in the end, it will report an 'issue', and the upgrade won't install.
Hope I am right here 🙂 Good luck!

Thanks for the details. I suppose if I had restarted to let it install I would have gotten same messge. I was so frustrated over the first time I was paranoid to even try it. Since this Spectre is a loaner from HP for testing I really need to go through the whole process and report findings. I may even click that "fix issues" button to see what results.:smileyhappy:

@CherylG
I clicked on 'Fixed issues' and Windows made another attempt on v. 1803 update - unsuccessfully. My Spectre safely remains on v. 1703 🙂

Good to hear you are safe! Unfortunately, when I renabled WU on my Spectre loaner/test laptop it again asked for restart to finish update and proceeded through the entire update without even a "fix issues" button. Result- within 20 minutes of starting Windows I once again had a blue screen crash. Rolled back again, blocked WU again. Not sure why it is not detecting correctly and blocking on this laptop.:smileymad:
