HP ENVY 15 x360 PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there, I’ve had my HP ENVY 15 x360 PC laptop for about eight or nine years now and I’m looking to upgrade its CPU, RAM, and Graphics card to make it run faster. Right now, its slowing down a lot and struggling to run just a few chrome tabs. Even with cyber–Monday I don’t have the time or money to buy a completely new laptop. On top of this I’m a college student and due to my scholarships, I’m unable to take a semester off and all my classes are online so I need this laptop running at top notch. That’s why I was wondering if it would be cheaper to just buy some parts and have a friend of mine install them.

The only issue is I’m not sure if it’s possible to replace/upgrade the CPU with a completely new one since I have no clue if my model of laptop has a detachable CPU or not. My goal is to replace the current intel core i5 processor with an i7 or above. Then upgrade the ram from 8GB to 16GB. And finally, the graphics card. So, does anyone know if the CPU is detachable with this model or not? I attached an image showing my devices model information incase to help identify if its possible. Currently it dosent even have the device specifications to run windows 11 so it wont update. systeminfo.JPG

Didn't know it was a bad thing to post an image with cereal number so I took it down sorry I'm a noob here.

Hi:

The only thing you can easily upgrade other than replacing the 2.5" hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, would be the memory.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info.

I disagree with the memory upgrade max.  If the notebook has two memory slots and one slot can support an 8 GB memory chip, so can the other slot.

So does the Crucial memory report.

The processor and graphics are integral parts of the motherboard, and the only way to upgrade those items would be to replace the motherboard with one listed in chapter 3 of the service manual that may come with a better processor and graphics adapter.

It would probably be very hard to find the parts you need, and expensive too.

Your image was rejected because it shows your notebook's serial number.

Posting equipment serial numbers is not permitted on this forum.

No doubt your second screenshot will suffer the same fate.

thank you for the information but the laptop is not a notebook it's a really old version it flips into tablet mode but it's not a note book but thank you for the warning about images. Your porbably right I'm probably just going to have to buy a new laptop but most are pricey and still run on i5 processors. I need a laptop that can run multiple heavy duty programs for example

multiple chrome tabs

photoshop

animation programs 3D and 2D

things like that. I'm going to look into gaming pcs they seem to be able to handle heavy duty things all at once thought I'm not sure which brands are good and which to avoid.

sorry if my typing here is sloppy I'm on mobile right now.

You're very welcome.

I call every portable PC except a tablet, a laptop.

I have an x 360 too.

It's still a laptop to me, because I can use it like one.  😊

I go to the Passmark site and look at the CPU Benchmarks to help you decide.

I just bought (sorry it's sold out today) and HP with a 5700U that seems to be very fast for a laptop processor.

We are running the actual Passmark program in the other room as we speak, so cross fingers.
