Recently, as in about 5 days ago, my laptop started behaving oddly in that it wasn't charging. There is a multitude of factors, however.
Firstly, I already tried to uninstall the MS Power Control Method driver, rebooted, tried hibernate, sleep, and reboot again. Nothing has worked.
Secondly, the laptop battery is non-removable. So any of the more standard solutions involving removal of the battery will not work.
HP Battery Check was something I tried multiple times. It said the battery was OK and nothing's wrong. (However, running a battery check will cause the charging to start for about 10 seconds and stop again)
Most importantly though, I checked how much power the adapter should be putting through and it said around 1.4 or 2.3 Amps. However, when I checked the current section of the advanced information about my battery check, it only said 880+ MiliAmps. Does this mean the adapter is bad?
Is this a hardware issue, a software issue, or both. How do I resolve it?

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out,
As I understand the HP laptop battery is plugged in but not charging,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Have you attempted to reinstall the battery drivers to fix this issue?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
If the issue persists, please try with an alternate battery (if available)
Or alternatively, run a battery test while connected to the charger: Click here to know more
If it needs to be replaced, you may do so either by Contacting HP (free of charge if under factory warranty) or by obtaining the universal part number using the HP Parts Surfer and ordering the part on the HP Parts Store.
If I have helped you resolve the issue,
Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon
Followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'
And Have a great day ahead!

I did already to try reinstall the battery device drivers. However, the link you provided led to a video showing how to run UEFI Diagnostics on the battery.
So I need to replace the battery, which sucks, but thank you for helping me find the exact nature of the issue.

Was this issue ever solved? I have the same issue on my HP Pavilion; the same model in the previous messages. When I unplug the laptop, the battery meter near the notification center is incorrect and says unknown remaining when you hover over it. I also get the battery error post code whenever I turn on the laptop straight from a shutdown. Also, when the laptop is sitting at the desktop background with nothing else happening, the screen will eventually turn off and will not respond to any keys being pressed or the trackpad being clicked or used. The laptop will also randomly shut down when it is on battery even though it has enough power to continue running. There is also an issue where when the lid is closed, the power light on the side of the laptop stays on and when I open the lid again, the screen will be black and I would need to hold the power button to turn off the computer. I have already tried installing new battery drivers with no luck.
Any information or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I mainly just want to figure out what happened to the previous individual in this thread that had the same issue.

I have discovered something new. When you disable the battery in device manager, and then enable the battery again, the laptop recognizes the battery percentage and goes to sleep when you close the lid. I will post an update at a later date if this completely solves the problem with my laptop.
