Hi Support team,

My Hp OMen 15t laptop is not functioning properly, it has become unusable, and it is mainly due to its poor design, quality and parts. This laptop has a multitude of issues that are severely affecting its performance. The computer was fast when it arrived, but progressively slowed down after a year of use. exactly after the warranty expired. (That looks like a coincidence ahah). I even professionally installed extra RAM and an SSD to fix the performance issues, but things have only gotten worse since. The main boot drive has slowed down monumentally along with the processor being unable to keep up simple internet browsing. Every time this computer is turned on it sounds like a helicopter is about to take off or the thing is going to blow up. Towards the 1-year anniversary of buying this laptop I noticed a small bump over the trackpad and noticed that its input was often not detected. This bump has gotten worse and worse over time and even caused a screw to fall out of the laptop case. This is now a safety hazard, and it doesn't even run as advertised. The laptop takes over 4 minutes and multiple attempts to even boot up after which is is unusable for another twenty minutes. The laptop case has been distorted by the swelling and there is now a big gap between the bottom cover and the other part of the laptop. I did not expect this kind of quality and performance from Hp. On top of all these issues, The laptop does not run unless it is plugged in 24/7 and the moment the cable is disconnected it turns off and the webcam is unreliable as well. This kind of performance and quality is completely unacceptable for a computer that has been barely used and taken good care of.  I wanted to make a request to the Hp support team to look into this issue and deal with this defective product that was sold to me.  Please contact me and settle this issue. This device is a safety hazard that was sold to me.

From the description, it sounds like the battery just needs to be replaced.

If a swollen battery is indeed the cause of all this grief, then it it true that NOT replacing the battery could result in more damage to the computer, including a situation where the system will stop working.

Reminders - READ

  • Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.
  • Some regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online
  • Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.
  • HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.
  • If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Important

  • HP Phone numbers you find on the Internet have likely been hijacked.  Old HP phone numbers – those numbers no longer used by HP since the move to “online” case submissions  – might have been taken over by thieves.
  • Do not be a victim.
  • Stay vigilant.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
