HP ENVY 13-AD173CL
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

In August of 2018, I purchased an HP Certified Refurbished HP ENVY 13-AD173CL. This was the first "new" computer I have ever purchased, but I wanted to make an investment that would last me through my years at University. A few months into using the device, I have begun to experience frame bending issues, as the laptop would not close properly. On its own accord, the screen has broken and the touchscreen stopped working, all while the laptop was within my padded backpack. Most recently, the back left of the device has split open, exposing what appears to be internal components. It also appears that plastic debris has been coming from within this hole.

Being the second-largest purchase I have ever made to date, I have taken the greatest care and caution with this laptop. Upon doing some research, I have discovered that my issue is experienced by many other HP ENVY owners. I would like to know what steps I can take to repair or replace this device. Many thanks.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
