SAME problem here with my Envy that I've had for about 2 years and rarely ever leaves my home, so it is not abused in any way that would have caused the hinge issue/case separation.

Spoke with an HP rep:

Their VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE DECISION is to try to charge me $180 to fix something that is clearly a part issue that MANY people are having.

So I will not have my laptop fixed, and.....

I WILL NEVER PURCHASE another HP product for myself, my family, or our businesses.

A waste of $750.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

I already went through all of this with someone from the HP  support team.....he is the one that told me that HP would 'so graciously' give me a 25% discount on the repair bringing the final price to $180.

I have the HP Pavilion and the same thing has happened twice now.    The first time I thought someone had dropped the computer and wasn't saying anything now on my second HP the left hinge has come apart again.  I leave my computer in the same spot I don't move it around.  When it happened again I searched up the problem and found out how often this is happening on other HP laptops. unfortunately I no longer have a warranty and the customer service guy I talked to was no help he said there is nothing they can do, and that this problem is something that doesnt happen....   He wasn't a very nice helper, I am really disappointed the friendliness of the customer service department.    I am shocked at the quality of these products.  I love my laptop, but with the lack of help.  I'm afraid I will have to look into other brands...
