I have read in a forum

/-
Maybe the manufacturers claim a lower capacity because higher capacity modules were not available at the time of manufacture?

The commentator was referring to a MacBook and upgraded more than Apple claimed and it worked.

Does it apply to this HP laptop.

Thanks

It's the 945PM chipset and DDR2-667 memory. That is generally a 2 x 2 max....the 965 chipset could run 2 x 4 gig.

The motherboard only can run at 667 fsb so the 800 fsb processor you ask about it a no go.

The processor is not what limits the memory it is the motherboard chipset.
