I understand that you notebook computer is not able to boot with the AC plugged in, and I would be happy to be of assistance!

I recommend following the steps in this document on Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot. This should help restore the display screen of your computer.

Additionally, I also recommend following this resource on Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter. This should help to determine if the power issue has to do with the notebook itself or the power adapter.

Hi

I have a HP pavilion 11-n000ea 360 and started having issues yesterday. I have the led flashing on my caps lock, the led to say the power lead is in and on and the power light. I do start to hear the fan spin up but it stops after 30 seconds.

Due to the model I have no access to the battery for a hard reset. I've not had this long only a few months and it was working fine yesterday.

I understand that your notebook computer does not stay powered on for very long, that there is a flashing CAPS Lock button on the keyboard, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!

In order to further diagnose this issue, I recommend following the steps in this document on Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps. This should help determine the reason behind the specific blinking CAPS Lock code.

If the issue persists after completing all of the steps in the document above, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

I have a Pavillion G6 that will not boot up into Windows. The last screen I see is the black screen with the HP logo on it. It then starts all over at the initial boot up screen. The power light, the WIFI light both stay on. The Caps Lock light blinks once when I start it up.  It will continue in this cycle for as long as I let it run. I have gone into the bios and ran every diagnostic available. Everything checked out fine. I have followed all of the reset instructions included in this thread, with no change. I have reseated the memory and the hard drive.  Please, what else can be done to restore this machine to operation?

Hello HP, I too joined the Pavillion G6 not turning on group.

Here's what happens:

-Powerled lit next to power plug when connected. Blue without battery, amber with battery

- When pressing the powerbutton it blinks once along the caps lock button.

- When pressing the F5 key the powerled blinks continiusly as long as I keep the F5 pressed. Blinking stops if I press any other button while F5 is pressed -> some life detected!

I have tried pretty much everything mentioned in the chain, like

- Hard reset by removing the battery and power plug -> up to 60 sec power button held -> plug back (not battery) -> press power button -> one blink on power button.

- Tried the same with different power adapter

- unplug and re-plug the hard disk (both ends of the cable)

- removing and re-installing both RAM chips. Tried one chip at time & swapped the banks

Since this G6 is a fresh out of warranty the professional laptop repair shop is out of question (way too expensive here).

Is there anything you HP gurus can suggest? CPU out of socket? Safety fuse burned from motherboard (replaceable)? Fan dead -> diag refuse to boot machine without it?

The machine just died during normal use, no keyboard rage etc. No sign of life other that those 3 led is visible. No sound of anything rotating.

All help is really appreciated. Laptop belongs to neighbour's 4th grader going nuts without it 🙂

Cheers, TJR

Hello,

unfortunately I had to join this community this morning. I tried all common sense on my colleagues computer ... read 9 pages of comments and found out ... I am not alone in the universe. Lots of people having ... I assume ... the same kind of trouble ....

I frequently read "Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!". Oh, yes ... I am enjoying it so much. I would appreciate even more to find a clue what is wrong with it and save my valuable time. If the motherboard is junk okay. Then I can quit working. But most clues from memory reseating, AC cords, .... HDD swap .... are useless when you don't know the root cause of the trouble.

I have a HP Pavilion 17-e019dx showing the well known symptoms.

  • Power button light on
  • WIFI button on
  • Power connector light on
  • No sound
  • No display

I would appreciate very much a qualified answer indicating what is wrong with this machine.

If it is scrap and not worth to fix it anymore, we discard it, save our time and I will recommend our company to buy another brand from now on.

THANK YOU
