If you change your motherboard it will be damaged again in a future. They must give us an extended warranty for this model, they just dont do it because they didnt sell to much of these; they will lose more money if they extend or warranty and as we are not a big number they just dont care to lose a minimum quantity of customers.

I wanted to add one more dv6700 to this list. I've encountered the same issues as everyone else. My computer worked fine for two years, then yesterday it locked up on me. I tried reseting it using hard restarts and now I'm getting the flashing LEDs.
I find it interesting that all these failures are happening around the same time. Is there something with these computers that is causing them to die at the same time?

Alright so i have 2 laptops the have this issue.
One of them is a HP Pavilion dv6700 and the other is and HP Pavilion dv9300.
Both of them go into a boot loop after about 2 sec. of hitting the power button.
This all happens before the BIOS loads which means the issue most likely resides with the motherboard or a power fault somewhere within the machine.
Few things that i did notice about this is i can get the laptop to turn and stay on but the BIOS never loads by:
--> removing all RAM and turning on the machine.
--> holding down the esc key on the keyboard.
--> holding down the F10 keys.
This happens with both of my machines, I contacted HP and i was told tough luck, so it seems as though we have to figure the problem out ourselves.
I have tried reseatting the RAM and the HDD, I have tried replacing the HDD. I tried reseatting keyboard, replacing CMOS battery. Booting with an external monitor. Booting with any USB device. Booting without a network card, and DVD drive.
Bootign without a battery.
I believe that the issue is a somewhere on the motherboard.
Things to note:
When i pull out my keyboard i notice that it is warped and doesnt actually fit properly.
LED monitor turn off before the system does.
Please if you notice any of these on your machine post it and maybe we can solve the problem once and for all.

I'm having roughly the same problems after a BIOS update with my DV6855ea, but instead I get a black screen on startup and then 3 beeps, 1 long and 2 short.
Very disappointing, seeing as this was my first laptop.

You folks should google "reflow motherboard" or "reflow gpu" to get an understanding of what is possibly happening to your notebooks.
I have a dv9810us that wouldn't start, but would cycling on and off til I pulled the battery. Today I baked my mobo at 385 degrees for 8 minutes, and now it runs again.
Here is the procedure I used.
I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a shot and it worked.

I had this same problem and HP fixed it but that did not last 5 months. I used it maybe 10 times in that period. They wanted 400.00 to fix it again but I think that they should see that this is a major problem. I told the Customer Service rep that I should maybe buy another brand and he said I should. I have a number of HP products some good some bad but this one upset me very much. Someone (tech) said that more than like the power supply is burning out the motherboards?? Don't know but I guess in my opinion I will have to buy elsewhere. I have a Toshiba Laptop that works well and has yet to give any problems???

Assuming you are experiencing the same problems, you will need to either repair, or replace your motherboard. Unless you are under warranty, I would use a local repair shop rather than hp if you cannot do it yourself.

Yes, I'm having the same problem as most on this thread. All the lights light up for a second, then shut off, the computer will not boot. I have the ability to replace the mb, but wonder if it makes sense, considering the cost of the mb and no guarantee that the new one will be any better then the original. Are the replacements made any better or are they just the same as the original?
