Pavilion x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My notebook's fan has begun to get very loud at times. I have not noticed any particular trigger. There are many background processes (up to 80 odd) and I wonder if this could be to blame. I always use my laptop on a flat surface and do not crowd the area around it. The noise may occur at any time whether I am playing the Sims 4 or watching Netflix, as soon as the startup process begins, checking emails etc. The noise will also cease randomly. I have not noticed any overheating and CoolSense is on.

Here is some of my system summary

Any clues?

Kind regards

@Jellybath
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you attempted to perform a hard reset on your device?
  • Does the device heat up as well?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Next, let's change the System Power Scheme to Balance in the BIOS.

1.Turn on or restart the computer.

2.Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.

3.Select System Configuration.

4.Select Boot Options > System Power Scheme.

5.Change the option to Balance.

6.Select F10 to Save and Exit the BIOS.

7.Select Exit.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
