HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp1000 (4V7P0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi everyone,

I own an HP 17 laptop, and unfortunately, it’s turned out to be one of the worst purchases I’ve ever made. After using it for 2 years and 6 months, I can honestly say I’ve never had a good experience with this device.

It takes over 10 minutes just to boot up, and even opening basic applications like Microsoft Word or performing simple daily tasks feels painfully slow. I’ve followed every recommendation from HP Support—installed all updates, run diagnostics, even reset the operating system—but nothing has improved the performance.

When I check Task Manager, I constantly see the hard drive running at 100%, yet none of the optimization tips from HP or Windows tutorials have made a difference. Recently, a scan using HP Support Assistant flagged a battery issue, suggesting it may need to be replaced. Seriously, HP? After just two years of use?

I’m looking for advice on how to fix these performance issues, or at least find some support for this product. Otherwise, this laptop is headed for the trash—and I’ll never consider buying from HP again.

Hello @ThiagoASOliveir
I understand that your computer is having poor performance. Please try the following:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997135-1444257-16 - This document provides the easiest way to improve PC performance.

- Run a storage test to determine if the drive has worn out:

  • Restart your PC.
  • Keep tapping F2 to enter diagnostics.
  • Depending on your version of diags, navigate to Storage tests or Component tests.
  • Run the fast/short test for the primary storage drive.
  • For more details- HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures | undefined
  • Observe if the test reports a wear level- If so, the storage drive would need to be replaced.

- Perform a HP Cloud recovery reset. Ensure to back up all your data first- HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

Hope this helps!
