I'm surprised that a Kingston SSD didn't work either.

 

Under the circumstances, I would give up on trying to install a SSD in your notebook.

This is unfair, man. I've got to work with this slow HDD until I buy a new laptop, but would there be any reason for this? It's not like mine is special or anything from the rest of the ProBook 4540s in the world. There would be no bios virus that wouldn't allow it to read the SSD.

I  Finally did it. Basically HP website forgot to provide the HP Storage sense and intel Rapid Storage technology, both of them then allowed the laptop to boot from the SSD. Just get the whole Soft Paq application, i had alot of updates missing even with the laptop fully updated according to intel driver assistant, HP support assistant, windows update as well

just run the application in compatibility for windows 8.1 and install all updates.
