My Synaptics touch pad reverts to factory default every time I turn off my computer. I can find no updates one either synaptics.com or windows help. Any ideas? My laptop is only  4-5 years old. No error messages. Problem happens every time machine is turned off. No recent software or driver changes. Using wireless, home, to access internet. Thanks

Hi,

Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run box type regedit and hit enter

In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If this is present, right click the key and select Modify

Set the Value data field to 0 ( Zero ) and then click Ok.

Close the Registry Editor.

Make the Synaptics setting changes you require in the usual way and save them, then check if they're now retained after a reboot.

Regards,

Thank you so very much! This problem has been nagging at me ever since I downloaded Windows 10. I can't say enough about how great I feel now... and all over some stupid little irritant like this can drive a person crazy. You knew how to fix the problem after HP, Microsoft and Symtec didn't. Again, bless you and many, many thanks from an old guy on the left coast. Freewikki
