HP 15-ay041wm is the laptop that I have

In order to get an online remote job I will need a i3-6100U processor. I need a Intel Core i5-650 3.2 GHz or greater.  Is there a way to upgrade my processor?

No, you can't upgrade processor because it is soldered to the system board. You have to pay for new system board which has

  (a) Motherboard,

  (b) CPU / Processor

  (c) Video card if available

  (d) New Windows license (you can't reuse old license)

Because all 4 (or 3) above components are on one piece of hardware called system board.

Please

(a) Select a system board on page 73 of the following manual

            http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05087748.pdf

(b) Use system board part # to order from

           http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

If N/A, you can use part # to search elsewhere such as Amazon, eBay ...

Regards.
