Same here, just bought this laptop 3 days ago and decided it needed more RAM, bought a PNY 8GB stick from Amazon, cracked the laptop open and found the extra RAM slot. System now showing 12GB RAM with 11.5GB available.

@bbuckner2003 & @wagonis Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you would like to upgrade the ram.
Do not worry. I will assist you in this matter.

I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC OF YOUR FALSE ANSWERS?!?! you literally told me a month ago that this EXACT LAPTOP has ONLY 1 ONE ram slot to use for upgrades and supports only 8gb of ram!? which is it 8 gb for the notebook 14- dk0002dx or what you listed to the other two guys who said they know it works for 2? and that hp doesnt want us doing it ourselves? i am really not understanding why you give two different answers for the same question about the same pc to 3 people, 2 of which got the same answer...

I wouldn't sweat it Britches, sometimes their docs get updated and some times they truly might not know.
But trust me when I tell you there ARE 2 slots and the room for an additional hard drive if you choose to add one. Have fun 🙂

i truly wished you would UPDATE your response to this post as its not at all correct for this laptop in general. yes im uploading this photo
PROOF HP Notebook - 14-dk0002dx ram slotsx2

@BH - sorry but I believe you are incorrect. I just purchased an HP 14-DK0002dx with the AMD A9-9425 processor (have it apart in front of me) and there are two RAM slots, not one. I did look at the manual you have listed and there seems to be a discrepancy . I pulled the existing RAM from the slot and it has the following label - 4GB 1RX16 PC4-3200AA-SC0-11 on it. I am assuming that it is 3200MHz

Your answer is incorrect. I have this exact same laptop disassembled in front of me and it has two slots for RAM, one with the 4GB card from the factory installed and the other one empty. Numerous people on YouTube have added a second RAM card to the second slot and the laptop identifies it with the correct total memory of both combined.

it would have been helpful if your reply was written in English but I think you are saying that you believe the laptop has two slots for RAM and I agree with you. I opened mine up, found 2 slots, with only one being used (4GB RAM installed from HP). There are a number of YouTube videos with people upgrading their RAM on this exact same model by adding additional RAM to the unused slot and it works. Looks like this guy and the HP manual are incorrect.
