Microsoft Windows 11

The old threads on this seem to be closed now so I've had to start a new one in the hopes someone has found a solution

My new laptop arrived yesterday and I've been trying to get it to stay connected to wifi ever since. The was a fairly long thread about the network adapter in the title and I've tried all the suggestions (plus others from different sources) and nothing works

My network connection is dropping out 2-3 times per minute, so the device is unusable. I'm not 'techy' so I don't want to mess around with the router as all my other devices (Phone, old laptop, company laptop, smart TV) work fine.

Given the number of issues I've seen reported, It appears I've just spent hundreds of £s on something not fit for purpose 😞

The only suggestion I can offer would be to update the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers to the latest versions HP currently has for that model Wi-Fi adapter.

Realtek RTL8xxx Wireless LAN Drivers

Version 6001.15.155.1

sp155768.exe

Realtek RTL8xxx Series Bluetooth Driver

Version 18.4017.2405.2403

sp155460.exe

Thanks for replying,

The drivers are up to date, I've tried disabling modern standby to get the power option back as suggested in similar threads plus all the other tweaks suggested and it's made no difference

The only thing that makes things slightly more stable is having the power supply connected rather than running on battery

You're very welcome.

Sorry, that having the latest drivers installed doesn't help any.

That link that you posted earlier this month appears to have been removed.  Getting File Not Found.  https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp155501-156000/sp155768.exe

In looking through a few other posts, several driver files appear to have been removed. eg

I had good result replacing the wifi module in a HP 250 G10 with an Intel AX200-based module (L35282-005) as suggested by @Paul_Tikkanen in

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/Realtek-8852BE-M91238-005-alternative... .

If you go down this route, check if your laptop supports/mandates vPro or not, as there is an almost identical wifi module (L35284-002) with vPro.

(edit: nevermind, the rtl8852be-vs only has one antenna wire, so this is not a suitable replacement)

Before that, connecting strictly on 2.4Ghz and disabling bluetooth made the wifi usable (albeit with significantly lower speed than what my APs can provide). https://superuser.com/questions/1774002/i-want-to-force-windows-11-to-only-use-2-4ghz-wifi-but-the-d... could help you to try this on windows.

I'd also disable wifi powersaving, just in case, as described in https://superuser.com/questions/1778017/how-to-toggle-turn-this-device-off-to-save-power-in-windows-...

Any updates regarding this issue? I have it also since I purchased my laptop and I've tried every "workaround" indicated at some other threads, but nothing has worked (even the support team has tried to help me by WhatsApp chat and phone installing, reinstalling, updating, etc., but the issue remains). I'm really frustrated with that!!!  If someone knows what is needed to do to apply the warranty, I'll really appreciate it.

No solution. I tried them all and more besides. Mine works fine when it's plugged in on mains power it never drops connection. On battery however, it's unusable, dropping every few seconds

I've resigned myself to the fact that what I've purchased is in fact a desktop ( or a device that can only be classed as portable if 4 feet away from a plug socket at all times)

It's incredibly frustrating.

Realtek released some updated drivers last month and they appear to have made it through HP to be included in Service Pack 158956.  If that includes the ones that Realtek released then they should address connectivity drops based on power management.

Realtek Wifi LAN Driver - 8852BE chipset
Driver version: 6001.16.158.0
Driver Date: 4-8-2025
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp158501-159000/sp158956.exe

Note: 8852CE chipset indicates a driver version of: 6001.16.168.0 with a driver date of: 4-30-2025

The original post is old but I thought I would add my experience; perhaps it might help someone. I have posted my experience in the past but it is impossible to find relevant information. I purchased a hp 15-fc0093dx windows 11 with the Realtek RTL8852BE-VT wifi 6 802.11ax adapter on 2/1/2024. Had chronic wifi drops on battery only; no drops when using the power adapter. I also had a second hp laptop running windows 10 but with a different Realtek adapter (ac, not ax). Never had a problem with that system. Tried many of the fixes -- no help. An old post gave me a clue. I had an older wifi 4 compliant router and never had a problem with it and the new laptop worked fine with the power adapter and the wifi 4 router. I replaced my router with a wifi 6 compliant router and the problem was solved ! My theory is that wifi 6 introduced a feature called Target Wait Time (TWT). It is suppose to improve battery life by causing the adapter to stop searching for a wifi radio signal when idle (sleep/wake time). My guess is that TWT is turned off when using the power adapter. I don't know if that is your problem but it is another data point to consider.

I'll add one other story. Everything worked fine for a year, then I started getting random wifi drops both on battery and power adapter around March 2025. Tried a boatload of so called fixes and driver updates with no help. Finally  I fixed my problem by installing an older Realtek RTL8852be driver (6001.15.152.0) that had originally been installed on 6/15/24. My wifi was stable then so I figured it was worth a try and it was still on the HP software support page.
