HP Notebook - 14-bs543tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product Name: HP Laptop 14-B5543tu ( purchased in 2016 ).

Product Number: 2DG71PA#AKL

I wish to replace my 500GB HDD ( SATA III ) with a SSD WD Blue 1TB SATA III 2.5 inch.

1. Will this SSD come with the correct connectors?

2. Will this SSD fit snugly or have to use a spacer?

3. Encounter problems  when upgrading from 500GB HDD to 1TB SSD?

I am locked out as Phil471 and now replying as seang471. I previously said the message was helpful but have since found my 2016 downloaded HP Maintenance and Service Guide is not the same as the service guide details given in the solution - so in effect apparently no solution - In my downloaded manual for Product Name ''HP 14 Laptop PC (Intel)'' it includes 14-bs5xx - my laptop's model number is 14bs543tu - i bought this laptop in Thailand so maybe why the ''tu''at the end?
My Maintenance and Service Guide's model numbers: are14-bs0xx, 14-bs1xx, 14-bs2xx, 14-bs5xx, 14-bs6xx ( where 14-bs5xx I believe refers to my laptop's product name/model.

Hi:

The service manual  I gave you is good for every model in the HP 14-bsXXX model series.

There are no individual manuals for the 15-bs500 model series, therefore all the info I gave you in this discussion applies to your notebook as well.

Thanks for the clarification. Where can I download this service manual?

I would much prefer to clone the replacement SSD using Macrium Reflect X rather than reinstalling Windows 10 - this is doable?

You're very welcome.

I had posted the link to the 14-bsXXX service manual on the other discussion:

Yes, you can clone the existing drive's contents to the new one using Macrium Reflect.

You will need to use a USB to SATA cable to plug the new drive into so you can clone the drive.

Something like this:

Amazon.com: FRIGRAF High Speed SATA to USB 3.0 Cable, SATA to USB Adapter for 2.5”SSD & HDD,2in1 Sat...

This was very helpful and thanks.

I have an Amazon UK account and for the moment the system won't allow me to create a second US Amazon account

in order to purchase the FRIGRAF USB to SATA cable but should soon hopefully  resolve this issue.

Reading the service manual removing the HDD and replacing it with a SSD after cloning is more complex than

I expected so a lot of preparation needed - first step is obtaining the correct screwdriver sizes and an anti-static wrist strap.

You're very welcome.

You can buy this cable on Amazon.UK.

They are pretty much all the same.

Unfortunately this cannot be delivered to Thailand.

Hopefully you can find one on Amazon UK, that will deliver to Thailand.

Isn't there a local PC shop or electronics store you can buy something like that in?
