Hi @Ferian,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Pavilion 15 was initially recognizing the NVMe M.2 drive but lost it after a restart. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, F12, or Esc during startup).
  • Ensure that the NVMe drive is detected in the BIOS. Look under the storage or advanced settings.
  • If it's not showing up, make sure the drive is properly connected and seated.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available for your HP Pavilion 15. An update might improve compatibility with NVMe drives.
  • You can find the latest BIOS update on the HP Support website for your laptop model.

Initialize and Format the Drive:

  • If the drive is visible in the BIOS but not in Windows, you may need to initialize and format it.
  • Open the Disk Management tool by pressing Win + X and selecting Disk Management.
  • Look for the NVMe drive in the list. If it appears as "Not Initialized," right-click on it and select "Initialize Disk," then format it.

Update Storage Drivers:

  • Ensure your storage drivers are up to date. Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it), expand Disk drives, right-click on your storage devices, and select Update driver.

Check Physical Connections:

  • Power off your laptop and unplug it. Open the case and check the physical connection of the NVMe drive. Ensure it's properly seated in the M.2 slot.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F2 to enter the diagnostic menu and run a test on the NVMe drive.

Check Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows 10 installation is up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for hardware compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
