I recently purchased a Crucial MX500 SSD to increase storage on my notebook. The SSd is comatible according to HP's website but when opening the laptop there is not a SATA connection internally to connect the SSD to. The existing HDD is connected by way of a ribbon connection? Crucial have advised that a SATA adapter that wil connect to the SSD and to the motherboard is required.
Which component do I need for this? Where can I find it? What is the Part Number? Where does it connect on the motherboard? Also, how easy is this to do at home?

Hi:
Unfortunately, since your notebook came with an eMMC flash media drive, you cannot upgrade that to a SATA SSD as there are no additional ports to connect a 2.5" SSD to.
Your only option would be to replace the 32 GB eMMC board with the 64 GB eMMC board listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.

The part is not orderable from HP, and I saw one listing on eBay, UK for a whopping 234 pounds!
This discussion indicates that you remove the existing eMMC drive board, buy the SATA drive ribbon connector and install the SATA connector where the eMMC ribbon cable went.
I don't see how that can possibly work.
A totally different drive controller is used for eMMC drives.
