Hello, I need to upgrade my laptop to a sata III ssd of 1tb capacity. Any idea if it supports sata III?
Also if you are wondering how i got win11 running on a laptop that does not fully support it, I used Tiny11, Search it on google for more details.

Hi:
Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports NVMe SSD's which are faster than SATA.
Why not install one of those instead?
Below is the link to the service manual. See chapter 1 for the supported drive types.
HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
However, if you want to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD, the drive controller is SATA III.
You can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.
It was easy.

Hello, thanks for the help. I don't want to upgrade to an m.2 drive right now since you told me in my question about the m.2 slot, you said that the speed would be cut in half since the drive cannot use 2 of the pcie lanes for an unknown reason. So that will reduce the speed by a lot I guess. Also I don't currently have an m.2 in my hands right now since in every store that sells m.2 drives I could not find a pcie gen 3 drive. So I guess my best deal now is a Sata III drive since the have gone cheaper over the years with m.2s getting more popular and expensive, and you just save more money with a sata3 ssd that has a decent capacity and it will last longer that an hdd, I suppose. Anyway thank you for the help, I appreciate it.

You're very welcome.
If you can get a NVMe SSD cheaply one day, you can go for one of those.
The WD Blue SN570 is relatively inexpensive and has decent specs.
Even at half speed, it should come close to 1700 MBPS, which is still around 3x faster than a SATA SSD.
