Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One

The scanner lid seems to be loose or not attached correctly. When I raise the lid to make a copy, it makes a loud snapping noise. It does the same when I lower the lid. There's some give in the lid attachment and if I pull it forward before opening/closing, it's better.  But I'm afraid it may break?  Seems like poor construction. There is no way to adjust the lid - it's all plastic parts.  Can I get a replacement printer?

@WendyB1, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand you're experiencing a loud snapping noise and looseness when opening or closing the scanner lid on your HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One. I can see how concerning that would be, and I’m here to help.

Here's what you can try:

Check the Lid Hinges for Misalignment or Obstruction

  • Gently open the scanner lid and inspect the hinges on both sides.
  • Look for any plastic tabs, clips, or debris that may be obstructing smooth movement.
  • If the lid feels like it’s shifting forward, it may not be seated properly in the hinge slots.

Re-seat the Scanner Lid (if removable)

  • Some HP models allow the lid to be lifted off the hinges and reattached.
  • Try gently lifting the lid vertically to see if it detaches, then reinsert it firmly into the hinge slots.
  • Be cautious not to force it, if it doesn’t lift easily, it may not be designed to detach.

Check for Known Issues or Alerts

If the issue persists:

Since the lid seems loose and makes a snapping noise, this could indicate a mechanical defect. We suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
