Hello everyone!
I recently bought a HP Spectre X360 15-df0000 and everything was going fine, until we encountered the wide-spread issue of a delay in touch screen input after using stylus input. To fix the issue I attempted a firmware update that was the suggested solution in other such threads. I downloaded the firmware update and it applied successfully, from this page:
It matches the model that I have so I thought everything was fine. It was not. Somehow, somewhere, someone managed to upload the wrong firmware to the support site. After going in deeper it seems like firmware for the 13.3" version of the Spectre was uploaded to the 15" version's support page. How and why this happened is completely unbelievable to me. But I digress.
The symptoms of the problem are simple: only a 13.3" portion of the screen (starting from the top left corner) is touch-interactable AND the touch input is mirrored. I.e. if I touch the screen on the right side, the touch gets registered on the left side. Fantastic. The touch screen has been rendered useless, effectively.
At this point I would be happy if someone could provide the original firmware for the df0000 touch screen so I can flash that onto the touch screen controller and use the touch screen, albeit with a severe defect (the 2 second delay). I would be extra happy if someone could provide firmware that both lets me use the touch screen again AND fixes the 2 second delay issue.
Before I get any fun and useful suggestions trying to assert that it's not the firmware: Nothing from the HP support page worked (PC reset, BIOS update, etc.) because obviously the problem is in the touch screen controller, of which the firmware got overwritten, so I would just need the proper firmware for it.
Please advise.
Thank you in advance!
