It has only one slot. I dont see how the others can fit two slots in that space... so you can safely assume it is one slot.
One day I will get a 8Gig to replace the 4Gig and I will be a happier man...

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Actually I wrote what i did trying to clarify what bparent was looking for: i.e. that there is unfortunately only one slot on this machine. I dont have the money needed to upgrade memory... What I am currently working towards is to get the hdd kit.... I have the 500GB of my previous laptop just waiting to be connected... If I could get the cable only, I would be happy enough.
Thanks

For those of you who may be interested in knowing. My HDD kit arrived yesterday. The HDD is in. Everything looks good.
The only difference from the service manual is that only 2 mounting screws are used. The go to the outside. Otherwise the "caddy" is a mylar sheet with rubberized rails. the rubber makes the drive press-fit into its space. It's tight, but it works.

I would very appreciate any info, I am searching for this kit ever since I bought the laptop, I already have the appropriate HDD but can't use it.
Thanks a lot guys

I got the kit from the HP Parts Store. Search for part number 732279-001 (it likely auto complete before you are done typing. It costs $57 US, and the shipping was about $5. The hard drive you need to get on your own. A slim 2.5" drive (9.5mm?) barely fits.
- Opening the case is easy (remove 6 screws).2 screws are under the back sticky pads.
- Pop the case open from the back of the dock station first (it's just easier), it should unsnap quite easily.
- You will want to remove the weight up at the front (2 screws), save the screws.
- Undo the back hinges (8 screws I think)
- Remove the battery (another 4 or 5 screws)
- Lift the circuit board at the side by the where the weight was (last screw).
- Plug the cable into the underside of the circuit board. There a sticky tab on the cable, but I ignored it.
- Dress the cable through the little channel HP provided.
- Undo steps 6 back thru 3.
- Use the screws in the kit to mount your hard drive in the kit's caddy. The caddy mounting tabs will go to the connector end of the hard drive.
- Connect the HDD cable and press the hard drive into its space. The caddy side of the assembly is up at this point. It slides in, but is a little tight. Make sure the cable goes back in the channel as the hard drive slides in. Press it firmly down.
- Use the 2 scress that held the front weight to anchor the mounting tabs of the HDD caddy.
- Snap the bottom cover back on. Especially watch the corner and beside the USB connector. The padding stips stuck to the bottom of the HDD compartment (you'll know them when you see them) may be just thick enough to prevent you from snapping the cover on all the way. Yes, the fit really is that tight. I scraped my pads out with a flat-blade Xacto knife.
- After the bottom is snapped back on, and the seams are all closed. All that is left is to put the bottom panel screws in and the back pads back on.
If you can download HP document 739875-001, it will give you pictures and other ideas for voiding your warrenty.

i'm at the point i want to add a HDD in the keyboard base for my new HP Split x2 13' system. i've attempted to download the manual that was linked in a few posts on this thread, but each time i click on the links, i get an HP screen that the page doesn't exist. i'd really like to get the manual so i can see what kind of drive i need before i order.

Important information about the HP Split x2 that is from Best Buy:
I just purchased the HP Split x2 model 13-g110dx from Best Buy. It is a 4th gen i5 version and is made especially for Best Buy. THE RAM CANNOT BE UPGRADED. Other models of the HP Split x2 can have the RAM upgraded, but not model 13-g110dx from Best Buy. According to the manual for this model, it states:
"Memory is non-accessible/upgradable"
The Maintenance and Service Guide for model 13-g110dx purchased from Best Buy is here:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03957651.pdf
I discovered all of this while trying to upgrade the RAM on this model. I used the links to the manuals listed earlier in this thread. Unfortunately, those manuals do not apply to model 13-g110dx from Best Buy. Removing the display back cover is completely different than the other models. When I removed it per the instructions of the correct manual, I could not find the RAM module. I even removed the battery as I couldn't think of another place it could be, but of course it wasn't there. The CPU area of the motherboard was covered by a copper heat-type sheet; I expect the RAM was under that, soldered directly to the motherboard.
I hope this was helpful to those who purchased this model
