The CCleaner program seems to have fixed the blue screen issue! It hasn't happened since I did that thankfully, so you all should try that out and hopefully it will work for you as well.

I've the same problem which surfaced one week ago.  I used your posted solution and it did not work. BSOD appeared within a half hour.  Please help!

I have been experiencing this same error on my new HP 17-f010us. The system is only a few days out of the box (since about 1/25/15). I have loaded only Firefox, Thunderbird, and Spybot S&D. After browsing some on Firefox - usually with a lot of windows open - always while viewing photos (hotel sites), or videos (explainer videos), the system frequently (once or twice a day) presents the blue screen and the atikmdag.sys error message.

I do not suspect that this is a problem that will be fixed with a registry cleaner since the system is so new and therefore unlikely to have registry problems already. I am reluctant to load unknown software (CCleaner) on my machine.

One of the early suggestions in this thread was to disable hardware excelleration in the browser and in Flash. This suggestion (as a temporary fix) would seem to be consistent with my experience of the error occurring while viewing photos and video. It suggests to me that there is either a hardware problem or a problem with a driver of hardware.

Is HP working to resolve this problem?

Since I posted that I had the same atik... problem, there seems to be some remedy with my turning off the acceleration in the Firefox browser and Flash app.  I've not had the BSOD for about a week.  Reading other websites, it appears the AMD/ATI graphics driver could be the problem but I'm not enough of a technie to try their remedies.  As for the CCleaner solutions, I did download it prior to turning off the acceleration and had more BSOD instances than before.  Where's HP ?!!!
