Microsoft Windows 11

I was recently told to put a t9500 in my HP- G62 220US because it had the GL40 chipset and the T9900 wouldn't work. Should i risk it and get the T9500 or the T6600? I don't want to make another mistake. Bios version is InsydeH2O F.15 rev

If you are that concerned, play it safe and install the T6600, which will still be an improvement over what you have now.

Here's a discussion where the T9500 works in this HP notebook with the Intel GL40 chipset.

I wouldn't risk updating the BIOS in Windows 11, however if you want to take a gamble on it, below is the link to the latest BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.37).

Alright. I will go with the T9900. Also, I will only update the BIOS if necessary. I will give an update once my T9500 arrives.

I believe that you meant to write T9500 in your first sentence.

Oh my! My mistakes. Also, would it affect me if i was running arch linux? I could only put a windows os.

You can install any operating system you want.

The processor won't matter.

okay. i just am trying to make this laptop usable again, so i switched to Linux and put 8GiB of ram in it. Suprisingly, without a CPU change it isn't too bad, but i'm trying to get the very best out of my notebook PC.

It's always good to get the most you can out of your PC.

Have you replaced the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" SATA SSD?

If not, that would help performance quite a bit.
