Thanks.

I tried it and had the same result you did.

I will  ask HP why it does not work.

@vtsymbal

Was your laptop  delivered with Windows OS or was it a FreeDOS version?

I'm not quite sure it's a bad lack, or my one only. I'm reading feedbacks to the model in the online-shop that I bought the laptop, and people are complaining about Touchpad not working as well (no solutions were published).

Just in case, I tried to fully re-install Windows 11 from scratch and then installed solely drivers that I downloaded from the HP support site using the green button for my model. It didn't help though.

It was bought with FreeDOS.

That is why the HP Cloud Recovery utility is not working.

A colleague HP Expert brought that up in a chat we had earlier today.

There are indeed limitations with FreeDos laptops.

Support for Windows OS installation is one of them.

Support being access to either Windows installation disks or HP Cloud Recovery utility access.

That is why I have never purchased one with FreeDos. I have read about the odd problems.

If you can discern which of the touch pad manufacturer brands is installed, a better source for the driver would be at the company website.

Thank you for the clarification. Although, thin is very sad to learn about HP laptops. I'll try to return the laptop back to the shop. But if no success, will continue trying according to your recommendation. Thanks again for your help!

You're welcome.

I much prefer being able to help solve an issue, but I enjoyed helping you try to resolve it.

@vtsymbal

I found an interesting thread. It is a possibility that Windows Defender is disabling the Touchpad.

Try the touchpad driver for this model.

"250 G9 model series lists all Elan touchpad drivers"

Yes, it looks like Defender is preventing Touchpad driver from installing (it's manifesting its work in Task Manager during installation attempt). I tried a couple things: disabled secure boot option in UEFI and tried to disable Windows Defender (as much as it's allowed), but it didn't help to successful installing.

I might try installing Windows Professional (instead of Home), hoping there are more options to control the Defender aggressiveness. But not sure.

Unfortunately, the Elan drivers for 250 G9 model didn't help.
