I am unable to expand the standard 32GB of RAM in my HP ZBook 16 Fury G10.
It will not accept any SO-DIMM but the factory installed 32GB SO-DIMM, even though the specs of the additional SO-DIMM are exactly the same as the factory installed one.
It is also not possible to place the factory installed SO-DIMM in any other of the 4 slots but slot 3, doing so results in either a 3x low, 2x high memory error code or no error code at all and a blank screen en 100% running fans.
This laptop is supposed to be upgradable to 128GB of RAM max, how do I accomplish this? Which burning hoops do I need to jump through?

Hi @Creaky1
Verify that you are putting them in sequential order.
see page 51 of manual

Tested, made no difference. Screen remains blank, fans go to 100%.
I used the PC5600 SO-DIMM from a HP ZBook 16 Fury G11 which is essentially the same laptop.
The G10 and G11 are both company provided laptops that are enrolled in Intune, does that make any difference?
Are hardware changes perhaps prohibited or locked through Intune? The G11 laptop actually exhibits the exact same behavior when attempting to expand it's RAM. Coincidence or some intentional blockade?

put them in slot 1 and 2 I imagine, now what type of memory do you buy, ? a memory with XMP profile does not work. Make sure the BIOS is up to date.

I used the SO-DIMM from a G11 version as the second module in the G10 in slots 1 and 2.
There is no XMP option in the laptop BIOS, or it is not mentioned under that moniker.

It does not exist, all HP notebooks are not compatible with XMP memory. Only some Desktop

if the laptop uses In tune you should talk to the Administrator if you have blocked the hardware change or have enabled in the BIOS the memory encryption.
but I don't think I can block memory updates

I did some searching and also come to the conclusion that Intune does not have the ability to prevent hardware changes. So I don't think that is causing the problem. Is there a way that HP has locked the hardware configuration at the time of sale?
