HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC FV278AV CNF0020TG9
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have HP Pavilion dv7t-2200

BIOS F.46         08/25/2011

Mainboard HP3624 rev18.51

Chipset  PM45 rev7

Southbridge  82801IM(ICH9-M) rev3

Bay CPU Intel Quad Core Q9100 .

But laptop not started. Just black screen and LEDs ("CapsLock"&"NumLock") blinks 1 time - Error CPU.

1) Does the motherboard support this processor?

2) Is it necessary to purchase cpu at number 507947-001? If I just buy it by model name will it not be supported?

Hi:

It should have worked according to chapter 1, page one of the service manual...and it doesn't show that a different system board is required according to the list of motherboard parts in chapter 3.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01689926

There is only one ordering code for that processor, and you have it.

https://ark.intel.com/products/37033/Intel-Core-2-Quad-Processor-Q9100-12M-Cache-2-26-GHz-1066-MHz-F...

So ordering by the HP part number will only get you the same one you have now.

And you have the latest BIOS revision installed, so it isn't that either.

I would have to conclude that the service manual is wrong, and only the dual core processors are supported.
