Microsoft Windows 11

Product name : HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop 16-f0xxx

Webcam stuck with shutter and the camera's shutter key is not functioning and has a light indicating that it is always toggled and is unresponsive when pressed. This started after the Windows 11 update that also updated the BIOS. Is there any fix or solution for this? [Other toggle buttons, like the microphone access key, does work as normal. Only the webcam (privacy) shutter key is unresponsive as of now...]

I have also checked the drivers in Device Manager, and everything seems to be in order.

The problem started after a windows and bios update, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery alters the bios in some way (im sure of it i just dont know the technical details, i think it has to do with the cmos chip). It seems the new bios update is faulty in this aspect with respect to previous ones, so HP should fix this issue soon on their next bios update.

If someone reading this tries the battery trick be aware, it takes a long time to POST and boot because the bios checksum is altered, so don't be alarmed. But i'd also disable the bitlocker thing on windows 11 (enabled by default on all new computers) right before trying to open the computer to disconnect and reconnect the battery because Bitlocker it likes to encrypt all your data when it detects the bios being altered in any way. I write this because if the encryption happens, and you dont have the key on hand (which for some ridiculous reason windows doesnt tell you unless you look for it) you practically LOOSE ALL YOUR DATA. If you think this process might be complicated then its probably best if you wait for the bios update to fix it.

How was this fixed?

Mine is still nonfunctional, and started around the same time. Did you have to do anything to fix it, or did it just resolve itself?

How did you fix your shutter key? Mine is still not functioning correctly and I have tried running all diagnostics as well.

Just like the first guy, it just started working again. I tried it again just now and it works every time now.

Anyone knows hot to fix this? i have the exact same problem but it hasn't fixed itself yet

Saw this on another thread: if you open up the laptop (easy, just 4 screws), remove the battery connector, wait ~30s, then plug it back in, the button will start working again when you boot back up. Tried it out just now and it worked.

My battery may have completely died between charging, so perhaps that in a sense fixed ours if they first guy let his battery die too.
