I have an HP 17-cn3053cl on order that comes with i5-1335U, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD. HP specs a 1 TB PCIe® NVMe™ Value M.2 Solid-State Drive. Is this a 1-slot or 2-slot NVME M.2? I intended on installing 32 GB of PC4-3200 RAM and a 1-slot NVME M.2 in this unit, but I'm confused by the 'value' label in the product description of the drive on their spec sheet. Also, I want to use a 1 TB SATA SSD for backup and storage, but the product spec sheet calls for an old-style platter drive. Is this a prerequisite? And is 16GB of RAM the limit for this machine? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks. 😀

Its just a less expensive NVME M.2 SSD. 1 slot vs. 2 slot does not make a difference as all M.2 slots will handle either type of M.2 SSD. You can install any 2280 form factor NVME M.2 SSD you can find to buy. A SATA SSD 2.5 inch will always replace a SATA 2.5 inch Mechanical HDD so no problem there. You max memory is at least 32 gigs and is likely 64. You can find out for sure the max with a command line prompt:
wmic memphysical get maxcapacity
As noted here by @Paul_Tikkanen , HP has not posted a new Service Manual for your model series but provides one for the older 17-cn1xxx series only:

Also note that since the notebook is not coming with a 2.5" mechanical hard drive, most likely (99% probability) none of the parts to install a 2.5" drive will be present.
That means you will have to find and buy the parts to add a drive.
The only part listed is the hard drive cable, so you will have to figure out a way to properly secure the drive.
The hard drive cable is available as spare part number M75893-001.

Thanks, guys. I have an older version of this HP series (17-cr0053cl) with a bad system board, which has all the required parts for installing a 2.5" SSD. So, since I don't plan on using it again, I'll just strip the parts from that one.
