You're very welcome.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.
Chapter 1 has the list of supported processors.

This is why you need to know what chipset your notebook has before you buy a processor.
The best processor you can install that is listed in the service manual when your notebook has an Intel GL-40 chipset is the T6600.
That is because the GL-40 chipset can only run processors with a max FSB speed of 800 MHz, such as the T6600.
The P8700 and P7450 have 1066 MHz FSB's, so that is why they won't work with the GL-40 chipset.
Your notebook would have needed the GM-45 or PM-45 chipset in order to run one of those two processors.

Hi:
Before I can do that, I need to know what chipset your notebook has.
Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and in the summary window, it should show you the chipset version.
It is going to be either a GM45 or GL40.
Here is what my report looks like.
You can see on the left side of the summary report underneath the motherboard description is the Chipset.
Mine is the Intel Q67

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
You cannot install DDR3 memory in your model for two reasons.
1. It runs at a different voltage that DDR2 memory.
2. It has a different number of contact pins and the notch is cut in a different place than it is on the DDR2 memory sticks, so the DDR3 memory will not fit in the memory slots.
That is done to prevent a person from installing the wrong voltage memory and thereby wrecking the memory and possibly the notebook's motherboard as well.

You're very welcome.
Glad you were able to upgrade the processor to the T6600.
Funny you should ask...
Someone else on this forum asked about upgrading the processor for a different Intel CQ61 and I gave him the same recommendation I gave you.
He experimented with some processors and yes, the T9300 works which is what he installed, so I would assume the T9500 would work as well.
See the discussion below...
Here is a comparison between the T6600 and the T9500.

The T9500 is faster, but it will run hotter.
